Derek Bonderczuk

Software Generalist

I have ten years of experience creating embedded software and software tools.

My software journey started during my university studies when I programmed a prototype hybrid vehicle supervisory controller. Though I was a student of mechanical engineering, there was a need for the creation of software to control a complex system, a challenge to which I eagerly rose. The project took me to an internship at Tesla, and later a position at GM where I created new and exciting propulsion system features, offline behavioral simulations and tests, productivity tools, corporate software standards and best practices, and diagnostics.

I am highly motivated by the prospect of creating novel, relevant, and high-quality products in an environment where I can call upon all of my skills and experience. I am a lifelong student and I will not pass on an opportunity to learn new ways of solving problems. My experience gained from a diverse set of past roles and efforts in education, and my positive make me a worthwhile addition to your team.

Hanon Systems
Q4 2023 - Present

I create software architecture documents for a high voltage HVAC compressor embedded software package.

General Motors
2014 - 2023

I designed software for new hybrid and electric products from high level requirements all the way down to production code, wrote corporate standards for software development, and created several engineering and administrative tools.

Embry-Riddle EcoEagles (EcoCAR Team)
2013 - 2014

I programmed the supervisory controller for a diesel-powered hybrid vehicle. It had two motors, a large battery pack, an onboard charger, and a full exhaust aftertreatment system. This was all done for Embry-Riddle's entry in the EcoCAR 2 competition.
